Generally speaking, DC signal surge protectors can be roughly divided into four categories: network DC signal surge protectors, control DC signal surge protectors, antenna-fed DC surge protectors and rail-type DC signal surge protectors. Take a look at their characteristics.

The network DC surge protector is widely used in communication room, network interface, broadcast room, audio interface, etc., and has the effect of preventing lightning intrusion. According to the purpose, it can be divided into routers, program-controlled switches, video surveillance and switches.

The control signal surge protector is mainly used for lightning protection of control circuit, data transmission circuit, industrial control circuit, fire circuit and alarm circuit, special communication line, telemetry signal and other signal equipment. In addition, there are two types of DC surge protectors for external control signals of lightning arresters, including resistive type and inductive type. The inductive type is mainly suitable for the protection of high-precision sensor circuits.

The rail DC surge signal protector is designed to prevent the protected equipment from various hazards caused by inductive lightning and signal transmission line surges. This arrester is usually installed by a standard 35mm electric rail. Different protection signal lines have different operating frequencies, transmission bandwidth, interface forms, transmission rates, etc.

In China's gas stations, medium and low voltage power distribution systems generally provide 220/380V power supply, and their power grounding forms mainly include TN-S and TN-C-S. According to the relevant requirements of China's lightning protection technical specifications, in order to prevent lightning current intrusion and reduce unnecessary interference of electromagnetic pulse, in addition to the electromagnetic shielding of overhead power supply, DC surge protectors are also required. The specific methods are as follows:

1. Install the DC surge protector on the line drawn from the outside at the junction of LPZOA or LPZOB and LPZO1 areas to ensure that the lightning current amplitude of the power line passing through the surge protector is 10/350s. When the protection line is shielded, the lightning current of each SPD needs to be determined according to 30% of the current amplitude. Specifically, in the distribution box, a switching type primary surge protector (KSP-1) with a current capacity of 100KA is selected.

2. According to the theory of lightning current shunt, each graded power distribution cabinet selects a secondary power surge protector (KSP-80KA/4 P/m) with 8/20s wave type and Z discharge current of 80KA, which can limit the residual induced lightning overvoltage of 4KV line to below 2.5 KV.

3. Improve lightning protection. Install 8/20s wave type tertiary power surge protector (KSP-40KA P/4 P/m) with Z discharge current of 40KA at the front end of each important equipment. At the same time, in order to ensure that overvoltage or current will not cause damage to terminal equipment, fine lightning protection of power supply shall be installed at the front end of electrical equipment, and lightning protection belt (KS-CP-42N P/M) shall be installed at the front end of computer equipment.
